Ted is a founding member of the firm. He has extensive experience handling all aspects of civil litigation. Ted has tried numerous matters to verdict in the state and federal courts of Connecticut, Maryland and New Jersey. His extensive trial experience includes matters of employment discrimination, sexual harassment, trade secrets and non-competes, wrongful death, personal injury, medical malpractice, liquor liability, corporate dissolutions, partnership disputes, and premises liability.

Ted handles all aspects of employment litigation including discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender, age, disability, religious affiliation, and transgender status. He represents employees and employers with respect to wrongful termination, wage and hour claims, free speech, and other civil rights claims arising out of the employment relationship, as well as civil rights violation by municipal and state agencies, including the police.

Ted has been named a Connecticut Super Lawyer from 2013 to 2016, and is AV Rated Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell’s peer review ratings.  Ted is an active member of the Connecticut Bar Association. He currently serves as a member of the CBA’s Standing Committee on Professional Ethics, the Connecticut Lawyer Advisory Committee, and the Standing Committee on Professionalism and Continuing Legal Education.

He is a 1991 graduate of Gettysburg College and a 1995 graduate of the Columbus School of Law at the Catholic University of America where he was a member of the Law Review. Ted is admitted to the bars of Connecticut, New Jersey, Maryland and the District of Columbia. He is also admitted to practice in the federal courts in Connecticut and Maryland.

Bradford J. Sullivan

Brad is a founding member of the firm. He is admitted to practice in the state and federal courts of Connecticut and New York. He previously was associated with a large Manhattan law firm where he provided advice and counsel as well as litigation services to Fortune 200 corporations. Thereafter, he joined a regional law firm to concentrate on civil matters to hone his litigation skills. He practices in the areas of personal injury, criminal defense, motor vehicle defense including driving under the influence (DUI) defense, workers compensation, real estate law, business law, contract law, insurance law, land use law, employment law, collections, bankruptcy, foreclosure, landlord-tenant law, and the Home Improvement Act.

Brad is a 1993 graduate of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and a 2001 graduate of Quinnipiac University School of Law. He is also a veteran of the armed forces, having been honorably discharged from the United States Army where he served as an infantryman. He is a member of the Connecticut Bar Association, Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association, American Bar Association, and New York State Bar Association.

Mike has been a principal in the law firm since January 2014.  Prior to joining Ted and Brad, Mike was an associate and then principal in two other local law firms that handled matters from New Haven to Old Saybrook and as far north as Middletown.  He is admitted to practice in the State of Connecticut in both the state and federal courts. His practice focuses on real estate sales and purchases, commercial transactions, estate planning, probate and business counseling, transactions and formation.

Mike has been a panelist for the American Bar Association Continuing Legal Education Seminar “Real Estate Financing Strategies.”  He has also served as the New Realtor Orientation Speaker for Legal Agreements for the Midd-Shore Board of Realtors since 2002.  Mr. Sweeney has also presented the following continuing education courses and specialty luncheon discussions for the Midd-Shore Board of Realtors: Listing and Buying Property in Probate, Home Inspection Risk Reduction and The ABCs of Title Searching.

Mike is a 1991 graduate of Gettysburg College and a 1998 graduate of Quinnipiac University School of Law.

Barbara Mocek


Barbara has over 20 years of experience as a paralegal and administrative professional. She has extensive bookkeeping experience as well. She graduated from Old Saybrook High School and has an Associates Degree in Applied Sciences, majoring in Travel and Tourism with a business option from Baystate College. For the past 15 years she has been a paralegal in New London County and Middlesex County handling all aspects of real estate (commercial and residential), family law, criminal motor vehicle, personal injury cases, and probate matters. She recently joined Sullivan Heiser & Sweeney and is looking forward to a long tenure serving the local community.

Shaun Murphy


Shaun joined the firm in 2011. She has 8 years experience working in the legal field as a paralegal and office manager. She has experience assisting the firm’s attorneys in various matter types including employment, collections, foreclosure committee, landlord/tenant, and business business formation matters.

Shaun previously worked for Attorney Sullivan at his solo firm, Sullivan Law Firm, LLC as a receptionist and legal assistant while attending college courses. Shaun graduated from Middlesex Community College in 2011 with an Associates Degree in Science and majored in Criminal Justice. Shaun later attended UConn at Avery Point and earned a Paralegal’s Certificate in 2012.

Shari Clementel


Shari is a highly motivated office management professional with 20 years plus experience in legal and administrative support. She has exceptional problem solving skills and proven ability to manage diverse functions while building strong internal and external relationships. Shari joined the firm as the bookkeeper in early 2015, and is now also working as the firms Probate Paralegal.

Shari is the former clerk of the Meriden Probate Court and while raising her children acted as a personal assistant to the Meriden Probate Judge. Additionally, she has worked for several law firms as a probate consultant and an office manager for two small businesses. Shari is also a wife, a mother to three daughters and most recently a grandmother to her first of many grandchildren.

Kristina Stephens


Kristina joined the firm in 2015 as a litigation paralegal, bringing with her over 10 years’ of professional experience in file management for personal injury, medical malpractice and workers’ compensation matters.

Kristina is well versed in managing files from the pre-litigation/insurance claim stage through trial. She assists the firms’ attorneys with all aspects of cases filed in the Connecticut Superior Court Judicial System and Connecticut Workers’ Compensation Commission.

Kristina is a graduate of Quinnipiac University with a B. A. in English and holds a paralegal certificate. She resides in Clinton with her family and is an active member of the community.
